4/3/2023 0 Comments Nct 127 kick it lyrics![]() ![]() One last thing I noticed was a Game of Death reference. The sounds are also quite intimidating and can act as an auditory feint to confuse your opponent. Many techniques are based on the way animals fight and move. The concept of animal-like noises originate from his kung fu discipline. In the song itself, there are some battle cries heard in the background which sound like the noises Bruce Lee makes in his films. Bruce lee has fought multiple attackers in a circle numerous times, but his Fist of Fury scene at the karate school is his most iconic. In the bridge of the song, there’s a choreography scene where it looks like one of the members (I think it’s Mark) fights multiple members at once in a circle. The choreography has some references too, namely the members wiping their nose with their thumb like a boxer, which is VERY Bruce Lee. ![]() They say the name Jeet Kune Do, and mention throwing a “straight punch”, referring to the straight lead in Jeet Kune Do, a technique similar to a boxing jab. The lyrics frequently reference his films as well as his martial arts. Well first of all, some obvious pointers: The yellow and black color scheme is based on Game of Death (Not Kill Bill, the rip-off). High where ma roof at, roof in the universe The new worlds that will spread in front of me I can just knock yesterday’s me down and shout out You’re so twisted baby you just gotta watch I’m flying around all day long Bruce Lee (Na na na na na na) I throw a straight punch right and left Bruce Lee Raise your glass and toast like my birthday My voice should spread more I can just shout out ![]() I throw a straight punch right left Bruce Leeīaby you don’t understand this feeling logicallyĭon’t think and walk along the path that leads to your story 'We ain’t never gonna stop' and 'Even if we can’t see the end, just go' seem to imply no matter how uncertain the future/the industry/their support is, they'll keep pushing through He also taught a boy to bow to earn the respect of his opponents. I assume it's referring to the part where Bruce Lee attended a sparring tournament and being portrayed as exceptionally skilled even though his opponents are bigger. 'Enter The Dragon like a movie' is a reference to one of Bruce Lee's film (refer to this synopsis). 'I lost fear', 'Wherever make it poppin’, 'Keep it movin’ like Jeet Kune' seem to suggest that in the competitive industry, they have become braver and are able to stay strong/stand out with their performance that look effortless yet very impressive/captivating because Jeet Kune Do's practitioners believe in minimal effort with maximum effect and extreme speed (Wikipedia). 'Wherever we go it’s a party' and 'Where ma roof at, roof in the universe' seem to suggest that wherever they go to perform, NCT and the crowd (their fans) enjoy it and that their limits (roof) is beyond the world. 'No more trauma' sounds like overcoming stage fright. 'My voice should spread more I can just shout out' sounds like wanting to gain confidence. But maybe my comprehension of the lyrics is bad and my interpretation are just a stretch. Generally sounds like a song about their burning passion to perform in a competitive environment. ![]() Idk if it makes sense but the song lyrics, after seeing it, seems like a fancy way of describing their dance moves and singing/rapping on stage. It's not really a concept based on his martial arts itself, more his career as an Asian in America haha Im sure there are heaps of quotes from bruce lee talking about the racism he experienced during his career and how he struggled finding respect by the west. The new worlds that will spread in front of me Will come into me as if I can grab them After the darkness I’m born againĬan be seen as them bringing Asian culture within the western world, as before, it was unimaginable that an Asian artist could do so. The lyrics: I make my world yeah Deep inside the very dramatic scene That was unimaginable Them being 'new thangs' into a new world were Asian artists have not been highly respected. I guess you can see some similarities within nct, as being among the Asian community, trying to break into the western market, just like Bruce lee did. Kick it essentially is talking about starting a new wave. Bruce lee was very concentrated on breaking into the American Market, auditioning for many roles and even be successful in starring in the green hornet before his film making career. I didn't think of the lyrics literally referring to bruce lee, but now you mentioned it, I guess I can see some similarities with nct and Bruce lee My whole family is a very big bruce lee fans, and I was so excited when nct did a concept based on him. ![]()
